Barr & Mudford to Sponsor 8th Annual Dancing with the Stars Fundraising Event

Dancing with the Stars

One SAFE Place(OSP) today named its cast for the 8th Annual Dancing with the Stars Shasta County Style set for June 28th at the Cascade Theatre.

And, the charity also announced the law firm of Barr & Mudford has agreed to be the marquee sponsor this year, a first for the event.

Executive Director Jean King said, “We are so excited by this year’s event. We have a tremendous cast, and this is the first time we’ve had a sponsor of this magnitude. Barr & Mudford’s sponsorship takes this event to new heights in helping our neighbors traumatized by abuse.”

Known for helping victims of serious injury, Barr & Mudford have been active in the community for decades. Dugan Barr, who has been practicing law in Shasta County for over 40 years, was named one of the top 100 trial lawyers in California in 2012 and the Northern California Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2005. Doug Mudford has been practicing law since 1992.

The Barr & Mudford sponsorship elevates the event’s status both as an entertainment venue and also as a fundraising opportunity to assist those in the community who have been traumatized by abuse.

“Doug and I are honored to be a part of this great event and to be helping such a great cause,” said Dugan Barr. “I’ve seen a lot of change since I began practicing law here in 1967, and the value of One SAFE Place to this community is priceless.”

OSP also announced the 2014 cast of local stars: Ronda Ball, Managing Editor at Enjoy Magazine who will be paired with Josiah Moran; Sharon Clark, owner and CEO of Home Helpers who teams up with Jordan Stevens; Aly Evirs, Owner of Boheme Salon and Spa who is partnered with Nathan Myers who also helped Natalie Putnam win last year’s Judges Choice Championship; Simpson Baseball Coach, Travis Fortner whose partner Rachel Hill is a first time DWTS participant; Redding Rancheria Tribal Chairperson, Jason Hart who will be dancing with returning “pro” Stephanie Scatena; and Rocky Slaughter, CEO at Sugar Pine Media whose dance partner will be veteran Monica Fisher.

Each of the local stars will compete for votes from the community earned through fundraising, with the top vote-getter (fundraiser) walking away as the Champion of the 8th Annual Dancing with the Stars Shasta County Style Presented by Barr & Mudford. Meanwhile, each team also goes through a rigorous practice schedule to earn the coveted Judges Choice Champion trophy which is awarded to the team who earns the highest style and technical marks during the event. Voting is already open online at OSPShasta.org.

The 8th Annual Dancing with the Stars Shasta County Style Presented by Barr & Mudford will take place at the Cascade Theatre at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 28th. For more information, visit the One SAFE Place website at OSPShasta.org. or call 530-244-0118.
